What makes the LD System so revolutionary?
First and foremost the LD System is a carefully planned programme of driving lessons designed to build up your driving skills in small, manageable, easy stages. It is the culmination of many years experience teaching people to drive and pass the UK driving test. Originally designed for intensive training, it was vital that no time in the car was wasted, so each lesson was given a very clear structure with set targets to achieve. By focusing the training on very clear targets and by monitoring their progress towards these targets, the learner becomes more highly motivated and learning takes place far more quickly. The success of this process is also largely down to the abilities of the driving instructor. Hence the reason why LDC instructors have been trained in the latest adult training methods, including LDCs unique "practice cycle" of tuition. It is also why we prefer to train our driving instructors from scratch.
To help speed up the learner's progress still further, a video programme and workbook were added to accompany the in-car training programme. The idea being that the learner prepares for each driving lesson by watching a video presentation and completing the necessary exercises in the workbook. The workbook is designed to reinforce the knowledge gained and help develop a better understanding of the skills and road procedures shown on the DVD. As a result a lengthy verbal lecture at the start of each new driving lesson subject is not necessary and the driving instructor need only focus on any aspects of the video presentation or workbook exercises that the learner isn't sure about. Progress is therefore significantly improved because the learner is better prepared for each lesson and less practice time is wasted at the side of the road giving lengthy explanations on things the learner could have learnt from the video and workbook.
When explanations are required LDC instructors can use their highly illustrated in-car colour presenter designed to work with the training programme to quickly clear up any misunderstandings.
The Driving Skills Workbook is also used to record the learners achievements, enabling him or her to share their success with parents or friends - a further aid to motivation. It also enables the parents to see what progress is being made and therefore precisely what they are paying for. The DVD and workbook can also be used to guide any supplementary practice with a relative or friend, ensuring it is truly complementary and beneficial, rather than contradictory and unhelpful.
This combination of well planned, structured training with clear targets, state-of-the-art training materials, modern training methods and properly guided supplementary practice enables LDC driving instructors to achieve far better results in far less time than would otherwise be possible. In simple terms this means that you increase the chances of passing your driving test first time in fewer lessons while enjoying the process and will almost unknowingly develop safe driving habits for life. You will also save money because 30 reasonably priced lessons and a first time pass with your LDC instructor will always cost you far less than 50 cheap lessons and a few test failures. And because LDC does not cut corners when it comes to providing you with the correct knowledge, understanding and skills you will also be far better equipped for a lifetime of safe driving.
