3 years ago I took my driving test in Chesterfield and failed miserably (5 majors!!!). A few months ago I moved to Sheffield with a new job and decided that now was a good time to learn to drive. I started looking for a new driving instructor. I came across Phil by chance and after a conversation, we arranged a lesson to assess just how much I could remember from my previous driving experience. I was awful!! I couldn't steer, I stalled regularly and it was obvious I didn't have a clue. Only 10ish lessons later (3 months) I passed my test! With only 3 minors!! It is true that people learn at different rates and that I must have picked it up reasonably quickly but Phil was the one who took what I had (nothing at first) and molded it into something that resembled reasonable driving and then helped me polish it into what turned out to be a fantastic test!

As a teacher, Phil is calm and supportive. He is able to explain things from first principles without being patronising and when he points out where you have gone wrong, it is always accompanied by constructive advice. Many a time I quizzed him on odd scenarios and each time he came back with a logical. well explained answer! As a person, Phil is a really friendly, approachable guy who is easy to talk to and is very understanding. This only adds to his teaching expertise!

I would highly recommend Phil to anyone learning to drive, whether it be from scratch or with previous experience like me, Phil will get you there!
